RadBuddy

Two small programs for the radiologist's own workstation. Each runs entirely on the computer it is put on; nothing about a patient ever leaves it.

DEXAhelper

Reads the bone density results screens on your monitor into report text, screen by screen: show a results screen, press one key, and the sites, BMD, T-scores, Z-scores and the FRAX box are read off the screen and written as report text you copy into your report. The text is recognized by Windows' own on-device recognizer; the app cannot reach the network at all.

Highlighter

Looks at the medical image on your screen when you ask it to, runs a neural network on your computer's own processor, and marks what it found: a heat map for each finding, with the findings listed beside it. Chest X-rays on any computer; CT while you scroll, with a graphics card or a second computer joined by one cable. The models come inside the download.

On your computer, and nowhere else

Both apps read the screen and work on what they see there, on that computer. No image, frame, result, text or name is ever sent anywhere: not to this site, not to a cloud. Either app goes online for two things only: its update check, started by you in its Settings, and the renewal of its own license before it runs out, about once a week, which you can turn off in its Settings; both ask this site and carry the license and nothing else. Each app is built so that it cannot reach the network at all: the only socket ever opened is the updater's, in a process of its own, for those two things. The privacy page says what this site keeps about your account, which is your email address and little else.

Getting them

The downloads are given out on request. Ask for an account on the sign-up page; the author approves each account by hand, usually the same day, and you get an email. Sign in, agree to the terms of use, ask for the app or apps you want on your account page, and download once approved. Each app is a folder: unzip it anywhere and double-click the app's icon in it. Nothing is installed, and deleting the folder removes everything. On its first start the app asks for a license: click Get / renew license at radbuddy.com, sign in, and the page sends the license to the app by itself. The license works offline, lasts a limited time (the account page says how long), and renews by itself before it runs out.

Disclaimer

DEXAhelper and Highlighter are prototypes, handed out for testing: neither has been cleared or approved by any regulator, neither has been validated, and neither interprets a study or replaces your read. What DEXAhelper writes is not a report until you have checked it, and what Highlighter flags is not a diagnosis. They are provided as is and used at your own risk, and the author owes no support or availability. The terms of use say all of this in full; you agree to them on your account page before anything is handed out.
